IBC's Migration to the Highmark Gateway

In early 2012, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) announced an agreement with Highmark Health Services (Highmark) to use Highmark’s claims processing platform for IBC’s core processing activities. This means that IBC employees will continue to process IBC claims but will be using Highmark’s systems instead of IBC systems. Moving processing capabilities to the Highmark platform will enable IBC to gain efficiencies and lower operating costs. It will also allow IBC to add new capabilities that enhance the overall customer experience.

IBC has had an effective vendor relationship with Highmark for decades, and this claims processing platform agreement is yet another example of how both Blue partners are working together to transform the delivery of health care.

Timeline

IBC began migrating X12 transactions from the NaviNet® X12 Gateway to the Highmark Gateway in the second quarter of 2013.
