The AmeriHealth Migration to the Highmark Gateway

In 2012, AmeriHealth announced an agreement with Highmark to use Highmark’s EDI gateway for X12 transactions (Highmark Gateway).

In addition, AmeriHealth HMO, Inc., QCC Insurance Company d/b/a AmeriHealth Insurance Company will migrate its core processing activities for their Pennsylvania claims to the Highmark claims processing platform. This means that AmeriHealth employees will continue to process AmeriHealth HMO claims for Pennsylvania, but will be using the Highmark claims processing platform instead of AmeriHealth’s existing platform. Moving processing capabilities to the Highmark platform will enable AmeriHealth to gain efficiencies and lower operating costs. It will also allow AmeriHealth to add new capabilities that enhance the overall customer experience.

Timeline

AmeriHealth began migrating X12 transactions from its current X12 Gateway to the Highmark Gateway in the second quarter of 2013.
